Good Eats In Newport

  • Nana’s Irish Pub

Looking for some comforting home recipes to cheer you up? Nana’s Irish Pub is undoubtedly the place to go. As an important feature of Newport’s historic Nye Beach community, Nana’s Irish Pub is a must-visit for any time you’re in Newport. We love how this pub effortlessly combines delicious Irish “pub grub” and classic American flavors. It’s also welcoming to kids until 9 PM (when it becomes more pub than restaurant), so it’s perfect whether you’re traveling alone, with a friend, or with your family.

Our favorites: If you’re at Nana’s, you have to try their famous Reuben sandwich and a few of their tasty pies

  • Georgie’s Beachside Grill

To be quite honest, we would probably be going to Georgie’s Beachside Grill just for the view alone. But luckily for us (and you), Georgie’s also serves some of the best seafood in the city. You can dig into hearty and large portions of regional favorites that are served hot while also looking out to the waters. It is, quite simply, a fantastic and cozy experience that anyone who visits Newport should try at least once. You just can’t beat the value for money that they provide in the food and the experience they give. They’re open daily from 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner so make sure to book a reservation.

Our favorites: Georgie’s makes what is perhaps the best clam chowder in Newport and don’t forget to check out their awesome wine collection

  • Clearwater Restaurant

If you’re looking to impress a date, Clearwater Restaurant has a fantastic upscale and elegant feel to both its space and its food. Everything they use in their food is locally sourced from their seafood down to their vegetables and you can taste the difference in the food. They serve a variety of seafood prepared in almost every way imaginable and their specialty drinks have been crafted to complement their extensive menu. Another bonus? The incredible view you get when you dine at Clearwater. And another bonus? Clearwater Restaurant features sea lion shows 11 months out of the year – yes, actual sea lions! The restaurant is open daily.

Our favorites: Clearwater’s menu changes often but their mac and cheese and their fish and chips are fantastic staples

  • Local Ocean

It’s almost impossible not to hear of Local Ocean when you come to Newport. Adored by locals and out-of-towners alike, Local Ocean isn’t just a fantastic restaurant, it’s also a fish market for some of the freshest and best seafood to come out of the waters of Newport. But more than the fresh ingredients used in every dish, there is an undeniable skill to how they make the seafood taste as good it does. Perhaps it comes from the experience of handling fish and other seafood, but whatever it is, it makes for some pretty amazing food. With a location on the iconic Bayfront, the wait for a table is more than worth it to eat here.

Our favorites: Their fish tacos, fresh oysters, and Dungeness crab are to absolutely to die for

  • Ove Northwest

Though relatively new to the Newport dining scene, Ove Northwest has quickly gained an adoring audience and a reputation for being one of the best places to eat in the area. How they’ve done that is simply down to how good the food is at Ove. First-timers quickly become beginners once they’ve had time to dine in this small and cozy locally-owned restaurant with incredible and diverse dishes. Whether you’re looking for imaginative and innovative dishes or reliable hearty classics, Ove has something for everyone.

Our favorites: Their prawns are a crowd favorite no matter how you get them, but they can also make many other imaginative seafood dishes
